Albert "Bert" Thomas HENDERSON

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bert Henderson on June 6, 2019 at the age of 95 years.

Bert was born on August 14, 1923 in Rosetown, SK.  He was the youngest of three children born to the late Thomas and Rosella Henderson of the Engen District.  Bert was raised on the family farm near Herschel and received his education at the nearby Engen School.  After school, he worked for farmers in the district before starting to farm his own in 1949. He married the love of his life Doreen on October 28, 1949 and they spent 66 years together raising three children and running a farm.  Bert always loved to tell everyone, he had some land and a team of colts and Doreen had $60 and a saddle horse, and together they built everything.  He had such a love and passion for the farm, restoring old tractors and caring for the animals; especially the horses. Over the years, he dedicated his time to different organizations such as the Herschel Horse Club, the IOOF Lodge and the Legion.  Family was everything to him, his wife, children and grandchildren were the light of his life.  We will forever remember his heart of gold, the hard work and dedication he put into everything he did, his kindness and love for animals and every single "worn out joke.”

Bert is survived by one son Lonnie Henderson of Rosetown, SK.; two daughters Leona Henderson (Lorne) of Netherhill, SK. and Marilyn (Steve) Rawson of Lloydminster, AB.; his four grandchildren Angie Heisler (Jason) of Blackstrap Lake, SK., Terri Rawson of Edmonton, AB., Mandy Henderson of Kindersley, SK., and Thomas Rawson of Lloydminster, AB.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Rosella Henderson, his loving wife of 66 years Doreen Henderson; his sister Mildred Bailey and brother Lloyd Henderson.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating.  Donations in memory of Bert may be made to the Ancient Echoes Interpretive Centre, P.O. Box 40, Herschel, SK. S0L 1L0.
