March 28, 1918 ~ September 28, 2019 (age 101) 101 Years Old

David BALDWIN Obituary

David Wise Baldwin, always active until the end, passed away peacefully at 101 years of age on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Rose Villa. He was predeceased by his wife Alice (née Bartlett), his brothers Ernie (Adeline) and Ray and his sisters Florence (Willis) Brooks and Eva (John) Whitmore. Dave leaves many friends and relatives, his sister-in-law Jean Baldwin and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was born on the family farm on March 28, 1918 to Wise and Mary Baldwin (née Taylor). He comes from a long line of pioneers in the district. His grandfather and father both homesteaded in the Kingsland District where Dave grew up and attended Kingsland School.

In the early years, Dave played the banjo at many district dances. Bowling was a favourite pastime as well as hunting with his brother, Ernie.

On November 15, 1950, Dave married Alice Bartlett and they farmed successfully in the Kingsland District for fifty years. In 1986, they moved to Rosetown. Unfortunately, Alice enjoyed her new home only a short time before her passing on October 1, 1987.

A word of thanks to Ron and Kathleen Ogg, who were always a support for Dave over many years. Also to the memory of Thelma Morris, who was a faithful friend until her passing.

A note of thanks to Dave’s sister-in-law, Jean Baldwin, for her many acts of kindness throughout Dave’s life, his nephew Bryan Baldwin, Dave’s nephew, for his support and hard work in the transitional move to Rose Villa and nephew Gary Brooks who wrote this history of Dave’s life.

Many years ago, Dave attended a Gospel meeting and responded to a call to accept Christ as Lord and Saviour. He was a man of faith and had read his Bible cover to cover twice.

Along with his grandparents and parents, Dave leaves a legacy of a true Prairie Pioneer.

To celebrate Dave’s life a come-and-go tea was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Senior Citizen Activity Centre. A private family interment took place at the Rosetown Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dave may be made to Heartland Health Region (Rosetown & District Health Centre Long Term Care), P.O. Box 653, Rosetown, SK. S0L 2V0.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
