Dorothy COBEN Obituary

Dorothy Coben passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning November 19, 2019 with her family at her side.  Dorothy was born in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia to Sarah and Albert “Bud” Wullum.  Dorothy and her family moved back to Rosetown area in 1939 where she spent her childhood and teen years.  They moved to Saskatoon were Dorothy went to the University of Saskatchewan where she majored in Home Economics.  While attending a dance she met Bruce Coben through mutual friends, they hit it off and were married on October 25, 1958. They lived on the Coben farm north of Tessier where they raised their 2 sons Lloyd and Bryan and daughter Donna.  The “Coben” farm was also the home to the “Tessier Pool” built in 1965 where many generations of children in the area would come for a week of swimming lessons.  This has left many with memories to treasure.  Dorothy farmed with Bruce until he passed away in 1981 and then continued to farm with her eldest son Lloyd for years. As well as farming she took many jobs off the farm including the Harris Hotel, Nightingale Nursing Services, Farm Survey and numerous censuses. In 1991 she moved to Harris where she became known as Grandma Dorothy to all, where her full time job was a daycare home to many. Through the years she was very involved in the Tessier and Harris Communities in any role needed, such as the Tessier/Harris Church groups, Tessier Ladies Curling, The Pull of the Land and the Harris New Horizons. In 2019 she moved to Rosetown where she was closer to her family, those who knew Dorothy knew family was EVERYTHING to her.

Dorothy is survived by her son Lloyd (Brenda) and granddaughter Michelle (Tyler), great-grandchildren Ethan, Brooklyn, Layton, Morgan and Jordyn, grandson Mark; son Bryan (Shelly) granddaughter Krysten (Aaron) and daughter Donna (Sean) grandson Brett.  Sister Ellen (John) Antymniuk and sister-in-law Dorothy Lawton; nieces and nephews Carl Antymniuk, Karren Antymniuk, Darryl (Lisa) Antymniuk, Betty (Lorne) Schmid, Linda (Mike) Frank and Gordie (Barb) Lawton as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bruce Coben, her parents Sarah and Albert ‘Bud’ Wullum and brother-in-law Lawrence Lawton.
