Dorothy DOLAN Obituary

Dorothy Marjorie Dolan (née Weber) passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 88.

Dorothy “Dot” was born on May 5, 1930 in Delisle, SK to John and Teresa Weber as the third of eight children.  Mom went on to complete Normal School and taught school near Glenside and Bonnie Doon School near Bounty, SK from 1947 to 1950.   The student’s letters of appreciation when she left were all the reward she required for helping people.

Mom married Barry Dolan, the love of her life, on October 18, 1950 and they set off on their wonderful 68-year adventure.  They spent brief periods in London, ON and Saskatoon before permanently setting up home on the family farm near Milden in 1951. Mom worked full-time on the farm as truck driver, equipment mover, gardener, homemaker and mother. In 1965, she added designer to her duties as they finished construction on their first ever new house.  Farm work continued until 1980 when the new house in Milden was completed and she reduced her farm hours. Mom had another house to make a home along with creating another garden and multiple flower beds, which was her lifelong passion.  Mom loved the colour green, whether it was a farm house or a three-acre garden.  In 2014 she took this talent to condo living in Rosetown and kept nurturing live plants year-round.

Dorothy and Barry spent 23 years wintering in Yuma, Arizona.  The residents of Westwind RV and Golf Resort in Yuma became a second family, many which would detour their summer trips to include a visit in Milden.

Mom was always available to help out with service clubs and organizations her entire life, whether they involved her children’s activities, the church or for just the overall good for her many friends, Mom’s life work was helping people and communities prosper and grow. Her children and grandchildren all owe a good measure of their successes to her shining example.

Dorothy is survived by her wonderful husband Barry, who was with her always; her five children: Gary Dolan (Marge), Barb Hess (Vaughan), Doug Dolan, Patti Bobinski and Daryl Dolan (Tina); two special daughters-in-law Penny Aadland and Brenda Langelier; eleven grandchildren: Geoff Dolan (Amanda), Corey Dolan, Jillian Hess (Jason), Monroe Hess (Erin), Teresa Wasend (Jerret), Wade Dolan (Lilian), Mitchel Dolan (Caitlyn), Shauna Vandenbroek (Kiefer), Christine Bobinski, Marshall Dolan (Courtney) and Brenna Dolan (Dylan); eight great-grandchildren: Jan, Reise, Nash, Maks, Cassidy, Payton, Logan and Berkley; brothers:  Louis and Gordon and sisters: Leona and Verna.

Dorothy was predeceased by her son Leslie, parents John and Teresa, parents-in-law Alex and Doris, granddaughter Jennifer, great-grandson Henry, son-in-law Pete, brother Ted and sisters Ruby and Pearl.
