Howard "Dent" EVANS

November 14, 1939 ~ July 4, 2017 (age 77) 77 Years Old

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather Howard “Dent” Evans of Rosetown on July 4th, 2017 at his home.

Dent was born on November 14th, 1939 in Rosetown. He married Jeanne Benjamin in 1961 and together they took over the family farm NW 31-31-14-3. Some would call it the middle of nowhere, he would have called it the centre of his world. He loved fresh air, sunshine (and rain when needed), harvest, full moons, birds singing, country roads, checking the crops, and the list goes on and on. He was so proud to receive the “Evans Century Family Farm Award” in 2006. Dent also loved curling, spending time at the cabin on Jackfish Lake, working in his shop, having company (the more the merrier), music, dancing, fixing anything that was broken, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, chocolate, as well as happy hour and not necessarily in that order!

He lived by the quote “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. The number of people that Dent called a friend was legendary, and his loss will be felt by many. Dent had the ability to connect with anyone he crossed paths with. His generosity, kindness and humour will be missed by all. He could brighten any room with his infectious, genuine smile that was constantly fixed across his face.

Dent’s memory will live on through his wife Jeanne of 56 years; his son Kim (Laurie) Evans and their children Steven (Melissa), Bradley (Colette), and Daniel (Brittany); son Perry Evans; daughters Vinnie Evans and Vonnie (Slade) Morrow and their children Jessica (Derek), Kirk, and Brant; brother Nelson Evans (Marilyn); sisters Carol (Will) Ostapowich and Joy (Bill) Grip; brother-in-law Ernie Lawton; sisters-in-law Rita (Don) Kneller and Eva (Alvin) Gallinger; brothers-in-law George (Linda) Benjamin, Barry (Karin) Benjamin and Larry (Brenda) Benjamin; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Lavina Evans: step-father Cam Lawrence; sisters Donna Lawton and Mary Sherick; brothers-in-law Herb Frerichs and Bert Sherick; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Ferd and Yvonne Benjamin.

A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jan Coffey-Olson officiating. Interment Rosetown Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dent may be made to Rosetown and District Health Centre Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 653, Rosetown, Sask. S0L 2V0.
