It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ida Antony (née Mazzei). Our beloved mother and grandmother peacefully departed this life on December 9, 2018 at the Eston Health Care Integrated Facility at the age of 96 years.
Ida was born in Eston, SK on December 16, 1921. She grew up in the Totnes and McMorran communities. On August 5, 1944 she married the love of her life, Nick Antony. Together they raised their seven children on the family farm at McMorran.
Ida loved her family and her community. She was an amazing cook, card player, gardener, and an active member of her church. She will be remembered for always being well dressed with her matching jewellery and hair perfectly coiffed.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Caleb Manor and Eatonia Oasis Living for the care Ida received. We are especially grateful that Ida returned to Eston Health Care Integrated Facility where she received the very best care from the Staff, family and friends until her passing.
It was said of Ida that she was an "anomaly" and we believe with all our hearts that no truer statement could be said. She was a special lady; strong, independent and unique in her own ways. Her love and warmth will be deeply missed.
Ida is survived by her children Gerri (Jim) Piper, Ron, Rick (Alexis), Doug (Barb), Lorraine (Don) Britton, Darlene Minogue and Barb (Lorne) Oliphant as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Eva, Theresa and Helen and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Nick, son-in-law Warren Minogue, grandson-in-law Al Irving and great-grandson Ethan Piper.
The Vigil of Prayer was held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 and the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart Parish, Eston, SK with Reverend Father Emmanuel Azike OP as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at the Eston Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Ida may be made to the Eston Caring Hands Gazebo Fund, P.O. Box 667, Eston, SK, S0L 1A0.
