Jean Elizibeth (Sloan) WILSON

It is with sadness the family of Jean Elizibeth Wilson (née Sloan) announce her passing on June 17, 2019 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 83 years.

Jean was born at the farm home on May 30, 1936, the second of eleven children to Robert and Ruth Sloan. She received her public schooling at Unionville and went to high school at Hazlet, SK. In the fall of 1955, Jean went to Regina to train as a telephone operator. The following spring, she started working for Government Telephones transferring to Saskatoon in 1958. Here, she met Eric Wilson of Herschel, SK when he had been attending the School of Agriculture. They were married on June 30, 1962 in Hazlet.

Jean was a very punctual person; she just could never be late. She would be a half hour early just so she was never a minute late. On one occasion, she had visited the farm and a blizzard had developed. She just had to get back, so a light plane with skis from Swift Current was hired so she could get back to Regina for work.

Jean was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her sons, their wives and families and her loss will be deeply felt among them and her extended family.

Jean is survived by her husband Eric Wilson, son Richard (Sherrie) Wilson and their children Carley (Cam) Aitken and children Eva and John and Cole (Jordyn) Wilson; son James (Wendy) Wilson and their daughter Olivia; siblings Robert James Sloan, John (Elvina) Sloan, David (Carol) Sloan, Ralph (Carolyn) Sloan, Elsie (Jim) Crerar, Eleanor (Lyle) Hughes and Edith (Dennis) Allenby, brothers-in-law Don Laing and Walter Berge as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Ruth Sloan and her sisters Mary Berge, Margaret Laing and Dorothy Sloan.

A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating.
