Jodi Lorin (Russell) KADLER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jodi Lorin Kadler (née Russell) at the Rosetown & District Health Centre on December 19, 2018 at the age of 37 years.

Jodi was born on July 8, 1981 in Rosetown to Wayne and Roberta Russell. She took her schooling in Rosetown at Walter Aseltine School and Rosetown Central High School. After graduation, Jodi moved to Saskatoon and took massage therapy. She worked in this field in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Rosetown. In 2007, she went back to school in Moose Jaw to take the EMT program and worked in Swift Current for a short time. Jodi then settled in Rosetown with her high school sweetheart Jon Kadler and they welcomed four children to complete their family. As the children grew, Jodi worked at Prairie Centre Credit Union for eight years. In March of 2012, Jodi and Jon chose to take up farming full time and relocated to the Russell family farm. Jodi then became a stay at home mom. Staying home didn’t mean putting her feet up. Jodi was very involved with all of her children’s activities: ball, hockey, soccer, singing, Brownies and art. She put countless miles on their vehicle. On the farm, she drove grain truck, combine, took care of the books and became the cook during seeding and harvest. Jodi, Jon and the kids went on ski trips in the winter and spent their summers at the lake.

In 2017, Jodi was diagnosed with cancer. She fought a hard fight, starting treatments here and then pursuing more in the United States and Mexico. During her journey, Jodi’s positive attitude and strength shone through. She could brighten a room with her infectious smile and twinkling eyes. She will be missed by many.

To carry on her legacy with her husband Jon are her children Ella, Quinton, Macie and Robbie. Also surviving are her parents Wayne and Roberta (née Robertson) Russell; sisters Ember (Jon) Kellington and their children Jake and Heidi and Bobbi (Byron) Gaetz and their children Solina, Lincoln and Lillian; grandmother Marj Robertson; in-laws John and Linda Kadler; sisters-in-law Leslie (Curtis) Braaten and their children Kaylee and Donovan and Jimmée (Devin) Wiens and their children Corbin, Meredith, Henry and Eva; brother-in-law Lary (Amanda) Kadler and their boys Parker and Zakary and niece Kennedy Hayward; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jodi was predeceased by her grandparents Jim and Verna Russell and Robbie Robertson and her aunt Patricia Russell.

A celebration of Jodi’s life was held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund set up for Jodi’s children at Prairie Centre Credit Union (care of Jon Kadler).
