Joyce Doreen (Harcourt) MADDEN

It is with sadness the family of Joyce Doreen Madden announce her passing on January 6, 2018 at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. at the age of 73 years.

Joyce was born to Jim and Doreen (née Douglas) Harcourt in Sudbury, Ontario on March 11, 1944. They moved shortly after to Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island and then to Little Current, Ontario. When Joyce was young, they returned to Saskatchewan and she grew up primarily in Regina. She married Bill, her husband of 50 years, in 1962. As Bill was in the army, they traveled and lived in many places including Germany and across Canada. During this time, four of their children were born. When Bill left the army, they moved to their “forever” home in Rosetown where their last child was born and raised. They ran the Esso Restaurant for years before both moving into the Health District to work. Joyce worked for many years in the Rosetown Health District, including the Lodge as a care aid and the Rosetown Hospital in food services. After retiring, she and Bill spent lots of time at their second home at “the lake” with family. She also enjoyed time spent with her girlfriends in Rosetown. Joyce most of all loved her time spent with the kids, grandkids and her pets.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her Mom and Dad, her mother-in-law and brothers and sister-in-law and step-mom Armide, all of whom she missed very much.

She is survived by her brother Roy (Nancy) and her children Jim (Wanda), Chris (David), Joe, Tim (Tanya) and Kevin (Angie). Joyce also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kennedy, Payton, Hannah, Christian, Dylan, Jesse, Katelyn, Jordan and Christopher, a great grandchild and her nieces and nephews who she shared a great relationship with.

A viewing for friends and family was held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.at St. Theresa's Parish. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Parish with Reverend Father Emmanuel Mbah celebrating. Rite of Committal  followed in the Rosetown Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Porteous Lodge, 833 Avenue P North, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 2W5.
