It is with sadness the family of Karen Marie Husby announce her passing on October 31, 2018 in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 28 years.

The youngest of four girls, Karen was born May 4, 1990 in Saskatoon, SK to Larry & Judy Husby. She spent her first years in Craik and moved to Kyle with her family in July 1995, the summer before she started Kindergarten. Throughout her school years, Karen enjoyed participating in a number of extracurricular activities and fostered many close friendships. She loved playing volleyball and spending time with friends. Her volleyball team won both the provincial title and the most sportsmanlike team in her grade 12 year; she was very proud of these achievements.

In the summer after grade 11, Karen signed up for a French immersion trip to Trois Rivières, Quebec. She thoroughly enjoyed both the social and educational aspects of the trip. After graduating from Kyle Composite School in 2008, she moved to Calgary to attend Mount Royal University for a semester before returning to the farm. A few months later, Karen moved to Edmonton to live with her sisters where she worked as a manager at Brewsters and later as a receptionist at a golf club. In 2012, Karen moved to Saskatoon to bartend and live with friends. This is also the year Karen became an Auntie. Karen was a very proud Auntie and enjoyed spending time with her two nieces and four nephews; she frequently called to see them on FaceTime.

Karen is survived by her parents Larry and Judy Husby of Kyle, SK; sister Stephanie Husby and children Josiah and Audrey; sister Sandy (Jeremy) DeCoste and children Huxley and Wren; sister Jill (Damen) de Strake and children Ethan and Cayde; grandfather Thomas Husby as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother Wilma Husby and grandparents Ted and Kay Brumwell.

A private service will be held to celebrate Karen’s life. Donations in memory of Karen may be made to the Life Is Worth Living Foundation, 1207 Kingsmere Boulevard, Saskatoon, SK, S7J 5B2.
