Larry John McINTOSH

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Larry John McIntosh, at the age of 77 years.

Larry was born April 18, 1942, the second of three children to parents Garnet and Irene McIntosh. After a brief stint away, he returned to the Plenty, SK area. Together with his wife Mary, he continued the tradition of the family farm and raised their three children, Leanne, David and Scott. Larry loved his wife and children very much, and his grandchildren always delighted him. Larry was proud of his heritage, and was very pleased to accept the Century Family Farm Award in 2008. He was an avid collector of all things historical, and he also enjoyed imparting his wealth of knowledge of history, especially local history, to anyone interested. For several years, Larry put on a Thresherman’s Day demonstration at the McIntosh farm. He had restored the machinery himself. Friends, community members, and school kids would attend and help out, and the event was always enjoyed by all. He was always willing to lend his carpentry skills when needed, whether it was helping to build sets for local dinner theatres, making wooden practice swords for his granddaughter’s highland dancing, building Mary a beautiful china cabinet, or various projects around the farm.

Larry’s memory will be cherished by his wife Mary, daughter Leanne (Colin) Hoeft, son David (Stacey) McIntosh, son Scott McIntosh, grandchildren Eva, Dempsey and Cormac Hoeft, Cailen and Hadley McIntosh; brother Doug (Marvel) McIntosh, sister Sharon (Allan) Kaiser, sister-in-law Margaret (John) Mackenzie, brother-in-law Jimmie MacIntosh, sister-in-law Lillian (Joe) MacIntosh, brother-in-law Lloyd (Judy) MacIntosh; and  numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Garnet and Irene McIntosh, in-laws Jim and Isabel MacIntosh and brother-in-law Fraser MacIntosh

The Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Plenty United Church at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Helen Mooney officiating. Interment followed in the Plenty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Plenty & District Museum, P.O. Box 118, Plenty, SK S0L 2R0 or charity of choice.
