It is with sadness the family of Leona Mary Ganter announce her passing on September 11, 2019 at the Dinsmore Health Centre at the age of 95 years.
Leona was born to Mary and Jose Grenier on September 2, 1924 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. She met Alfred Beaudry in 1941 and they married on December 27, 1942. They had seven children: Jeannine, Leo, Rita, Clement, Ben, Marcel and Denise. Leona moved to Saskatchewan in 1955 and she and Alfred worked on several small farms; she also worked for Florence Stephens in Wiseton as a caregiver. Alfred died in 1962 and she then moved to Tessier for seven years where she was a housekeeper.
Leona moved to Rosetown in 1970 and married August Ganter in 1971. She worked in the Rose Restaurant and then she became a housekeeper at Rosetown Union Hospital until she retired in 1989. Leona resided at McNab Place from 2010 – 2019.
Leona loved to travel to Manitoba and New Brunswick to visit her daughters and families. She spent many days having tea in the Co-op and many evenings travelling with friends to play bingo.
In her final months, she resided at the Dinsmore Health Care Center. There, she enjoyed bingo, card bingo and the smiling faces of her fellow residents.
Leona was predeceased by her parents Mary and Jose; husband Alfred; husband August; son Clement; son Leo; daughter Jeannine; multiple sons and daughters-in-law and multiple grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Rita (Alexis); son Ben (Debbie); son Marcel; daughter Denise; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service was held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holt-Mosten Cemetery, Wiseton, SK. followed by a Come & Go Tea from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Wiseton Memorial Hall.
