It is with sadness the family of Leslie Reginal Kirk announce his passing on December 1, 2018 at the age of 73 years.
Les was welcomed into the world on June 9, 1945 in Dodsland, SK by his parents, H.R. “Reginal” and Edna (née Traill) Kirk and older sister Bernice. They lived in Plenty, SK in the winter and moved to the farm just west of town for the summers. Les farmed with his dad from a young age. After graduation, Les attended the University of Saskatchewan agricultural program where he received his diploma. Les then moved back to the family farm and married Christena Margaret Cormack of Dodsland, SK on November 6, 1971. They welcomed their first child Aaron in 1972, son Chris followed in 1974 and they welcomed daughters Kimberley in 1976 and Diana in 1978. With their family complete, Les continued to farm while Margie raised the kids. In December of 1978, Margaret fell ill with a rare brain atrophy and she was placed in long term care in 1985. Les raised their family and continued to actively farm until the age of 63.
Les enjoyed curling and attended many bonspiels in the area with family and friends. Mechanically inclined, you often found Les under the hood of a vehicle or helping someone out. He was also very proud of his grandchildren and loved sharing stories and pictures.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (2005), daughter Kimberley (2013), parents Reginal (1978) and Edna (1986), in-laws Christena (2000) and George (2007), brother-in-laws George Lacert (2004) and Perry Cormack (2013) and nephew Steven.
Les is survived by his son Aaron (Deanne) Kirk and their son Zach; son Chris Kirk and his daughters Lexi and Breanna (Taylen) and their son Dezmond and future great granddaughter due January 2019; daughter Diana (Brent) Koenning and their twin daughters Joelle and Julia; sister Bernice Lacert; in-laws Betty (Walter) Baker, Joanne (Al) Hanna, Glenn (Patty) Cormack, Dave Cormack and numerous nieces and nephews.
