Margaret Rosebud (Javens) OLIVER

Margaret Rosebud Oliver, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away March 1, 2019 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 94 years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marg was born in Rosetown on February 24, 1925 to Philip and Olive Javens. She was the younger sister of brother Ross Javens and lived on the Javens farm east of Rosetown. She received her education at Jerome School and Hillside School and then went on to complete a secretarial course at St. Joseph’s Convent in Rosetown. Marg worked at Eagle Publishing before she married the love of her life, Lyle Andrew Oliver on October 14, 1948. They had two children, Philip and Lynda and lived on the family farm east of Rosetown until 1979 when they moved to town. She worked on the family farm for many years raising two children, driving truck at harvest, growing a large garden and was involved in all aspects of farming. Marg and Lyle both loved to dance, play cards, spend time at the lake and enjoyed time with family and friends.

Marg lived a long and full life, celebrating her 94th birthday just before her passing. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a warm, loving, strong woman with a terrific sense of humour. She will be missed.

Marg is survived by her son Philip (Debbie) Oliver and their daughters Natasha (Brad) Olivier, Jodi (Lyle) Slocombe, Jessica Oliver and son-in-law Tim Ashmore; her daughter Lynda (Keith) Green and their children Bradley Green and Sondra (Casey) Potratz; great-grandchildren Robert and Micaela Slocombe, Hannah and Connor Olivier and Braedan and Josalyn Ashmore. She was predeceased by her husband Lyle, parents Phil and Olive Javens, brother Ross Javens and granddaughter Lisa Ashmore.

A Celebration of Marg’s Life was held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alex Ositis Foundation, P.O. Box 1251, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
