Marguerite Olive (Swanston) BROOKBANK

May 16, 1931 ~ June 25, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Marguerite passed away peacefully on June 25, 2017 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre.

Marguerite was born in Shaunavon, SK on May 16, 1931 to Murray and Myrtle (Grambo) Swanston. Her family moved to Rosetown in 1946 where she finished her high school. During this time she met her beloved husband of 67 years, Ken Brookbank. They were married on June 14, 1950 and spent from 1952 to 1998 on their farm east of Rosetown, after which they retired to their condo in Rosetown.

Marguerite enjoyed playing various sports including basketball, golf, badminton and softball. She played short stop with the Milden Mintoettes as one of their three imports, winning a provincial softball championship that year.

She was a member of the Rosetown United Church, as well as a member of the Kinette Club. She held all of the offices in that organization, followed by time spent as a member of the K40 wives' club. Over the years she co-hosted an interview and cooking show on CFQC-TV in Saskatoon, managed Flair Fashions ladies' wear store in Rosetown, and wrote and published a book called 'Food and Fun' - a book of recipes, party contests and games.

She was a six year member of the Rosetown Recreation Board, including being Vice Chairman and two years as Board Chairperson, as well as President of the Rosetown RedWing Hockey Club for three years.

Marguerite extended her post-secondary education and received her Business Administration Certificate in 1994.

Marguerite loved her time at Aquadeo Beach on Jackfish Lake in the summer and Mesa Arizona in the winter.  In Mesa, she was secretary-treasurer of the Carriage Manor Board of Directors, as well as president of the Ceramics Club.

The most important thing in Marguerite's life was her family.  She is survived by her loving husband Ken, son Murray (Paula) Brookbank and their three sons Leigh (Vikki) Brookbank children Lindy and Rylan; Wade (Betsy) Brookbank children Addie, Kalyn, Connor and Bobbie; Sheldon (LenĂ©) Brookbank children Bennett and Asher;  son Don (Barb) Brookbank and their two daughters Jo-Anna (Tobin) Rooney children Teagan, Quinn and Cooper; Julie Brookson children Nolan and Rory; daughter Bonnie (Kelly) Price and their three daughters Lynae (Mark) Schendel children Max and Rhett; Shauna Price; Kayla Price; daughter Brenda (Craig) Oman and their children Krista Oman; Brett Oman child Sadie; brother Murray (Yvette) Swanston and sister-in-law Urla (Brookbank) Meckling.
