The family of Marie Alice Mireau are saddened to announce her passing on November 9, 2017 at Rose Villa at the age of 92 years.
Marie was born April 28, 1925 on the family farm southwest of Goose Lake at Tessier, SK. She was the eighth child in a family of 13, so there was never a dull moment. There were always enough chores to keep everyone busy and plenty of entertainment at home with a skating rink at the creek for hockey in the winter and ball games and berry picking excursions in the summer. Marie attended Cherry Hill School as a young child and later attended community dances and parties there as a young adult. She occasionally had off farm jobs, one which was working the front desk at the Barry Hotel on 20th Street in Saskatoon. She spent hours volunteering in the Harris community at the rink, and the museum and was an active member of the CWL for many years. Marie had a generous and caring heart; helping her siblings raise their families, caring for the sick and dying and always praying for everyone. She was a very special auntie to all of her nieces and nephews and was known by all as “Auntie Marie”. She will be greatly missed.
Marie was predeceased by her parents Ovide and Adelia (née St. Pierre) Mireau; her siblings and their spouses Louis (Helen), George (May), Cyprien (Vera), Theresa (Leo), Alphonse (Irene), Felix (Verna), Joseph, Beth (Leo), Irma, Laurent (Lucille), Angeline (John) and Cyril (Delores). She is survived by her brother-in-law Donald Stewart of Milden; sister-in-law Roseann Mireau of Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vigil of Prayer will be held at St. Theresa's Parish, Rosetown on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Theresa's Parish, Rosetown with Reverend Father Emmanuel Mbah celebrant. Interment to take place at Harris Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Marie may be directed to the Harris Catholic Cemetery, P.O. Box 268, Harris, SK, S0L 1K0.
