The family of Mike Osze sadly announces his sudden passing on November 8, 2017 at the Rose Villa in Rosetown, SK at the age of 80 years.
Mike was born on January 24, 1937 at Wakaw, SK to James and Irene Osze, he was the eldest son in a family of twelve. Mike grew up on the family farm and attended the Buda School in Wakaw. Mike left home at an early age to become a farm hand for Matt and Eva Luciuk in Rosetown. It was there he met the love of his life, Beatrice McMechan. They were married on March 27, 1957. The following year, Mike and Bea moved to the farm at Rosetown to take care of Bea’s siblings while her mother attended nursing school. Mike continued working and began his road construction career. They moved into Rosetown in 1960 and on May 1, 1961, their first daughter Brenda was born. On March 19, 1964, their daughter Karen was born and their family was complete.
Mike began working for the RM of Mountain View in the spring of 1963. Mike and Bea decided to make Herschel their family home in 1966 where they lived for many years. In the fall of 1998, they moved back to Rosetown and Mike retired after 35 years with the RM. Mike and Bea enjoyed the time they had together doing the things they loved, they were inseparable until her passing in 2010. Life was never the same for Mike after that.
Mike had a heart of gold, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He liked to spend time at Wakaw Lake, fishing, visiting family and friends over a cup of coffee. He enjoyed being a member of the Elks, loved to share jokes and tell stories, was an avid bowler and loved going to garage sales and sharing his treasures with his family. You could always find him puttering around the yard and tinkering away with things. He and his bird Nikki would spend countless hours entertaining each other. He will be greatly missed.
Mike leaves to mourn his two daughters; Brenda (Stacy) and Karen (Grant); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Cody (Julia) and their children Skyler and Sophie, Colton, Jesse (Mariza) and Wyatt; sisters and brothers Irene (Ted), Clara Bakstad, Edith, Ken (Gladys), Peter (Chris), Betty (Allan) Rybchinski, Maryann Sinclair, Gerald and Shirley (Dennis) Lalonde; brother and sister-in-laws Shirley (Norm) Perras, Jim (Valerie) McMechan, Judy Cregeur, Lynda (Tom) Fehr, Anita McMechan and Pat (Bob) Carstairs as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents James and Irene Osze, his wife Beatrice, his siblings Albert and Eugene, brother-in-laws Roland Cregeur, Pete Bakstad and Doug McMechan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Elks Hall. Memorial Donations may be made to the Rose Villa Activity Fund, P.O. Box 850, Rosetown, SK, S0l 2V0.
