Mildred Ann (Henderson) BAILEY

It is with sadness the family of Mildred Ann Bailey announce her passing on August 18, 2018 at the age of 100 years at the Dinsmore Health Care Centre surrounded by her family.

Mildred was born on January 2, 1918 on the family farm near Herschel. She was the eldest child of Thomas and Rosella (née Waymouth) Henderson. She received her education at schools in the Herschel area. Mildred married Frank Bailey on June 12, 1947 in Rosetown and they farmed in the Sovereign area until they retired to Dinsmore. Their family was blessed with two sons: Norman in 1950 and Thomas (Tom) in 1956.

Growing up on the farm helped set the foundation for Mildred’s life as a farmwife and mother. She knew the value of hard work and took pride in her home, garden and the farm. With a door that was always open and a hearty meal or two for whoever pulled up to the kitchen table; it was important to Mildred to provide for her family and her community. The Bailey’s had a plentiful garden and whatever they did not need was available to their community. From the busy chicken coop, Mildred enjoyed taking eggs into Sovereign on Friday’s to sell. Mildred enjoyed her afternoon soap operas, played a mean game of crazy rummy and loved her occasional trips away with family or friends. Once grandchildren arrived at the farm, she spent time babysitting and running grandchildren to various activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons Norman (Mildred) and Tom Bailey; her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kerry (Jarret) and their children Brooke (Cam) [Chase & Jake] & Jayda, Jennifer (Lonnie) and their children Quinn, Sara, Emma & Jada, Travis (Penny) and their son Merrick, Jaclyn (Kim) and their children Elle & Layla; her brothers Lloyd (Margaret) and Bert Henderson as well as numerous special nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Frank, parents Thomas and Rosella Henderson, brothers-in-law Alfred and George Bailey, sisters-in-law Alice, Ellen and Marion Bailey and Doreen Henderson and niece Laurie Henderson.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dinsmore Community Hall with Mrs. Diane Schmidt officiating. Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to the Dinsmore Health Care Centre – Patio Project – P.O. Box 219 – Dinsmore, SK – S0L 0T0.
