Myrtle ARNOTT Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Myrtle Arnott announce her passing on June 10, 2018.

Myrtle was born on February 19, 1924 in Kelfield, SK to George and Alice Givens. Her father died when she was four and her mother could not stay on the farm so she and Myrtle’s brother and sister went to work, Myrtle going to work with her mother. The family moved around until settling in Dodsland when she was 12 where the family went to work for Charlie Walls. She went to Norris School until she had to stay home to help her mother. She worked for two families in the area until she went to work at the Dodsland Hospital. In 1949, she married Blake Arnott and soon after they began their family and raised three children together, Gordon, Fred and Howard. They always put their kids first and made sure they had everything they needed. Both Myrtle and Blake worked at the hospital, she also helped out at Lloyd’s Store and she drove school bus for several years as a sub bus driver and then on her own route for four years. Myrtle and Blake moved to Saskatoon to work for Frank Remai as caretakers of their three apartments for eight years until they retired. Blake died on December 29, 1990. Her advice to anyone who loses a loved one was “to have coffee with your many friends and family, it helps”. Myrtle moved to Kerrobert where she lived at Pioneers Haven for 12 years and moved to the Kerrobert Health Centre for five months until her passing.

Myrtle was a caring mother, grandmother and a great friend, she loved her boys to no end. She loved cooking and being with her family, she made the best buns, pies and roast beef dinners. She was intelligent, smart and she loved her family and her friends so much. She gave her family the gift of unconditional love and taught them to cherish the importance of family.

Myrtle will be greatly missed by her children Fred and Gordon (Debbie), grandchildren Michael (Alicia) and Michelle (Pat) and great-grandchildren Jonah, Peyton, Kayleigh and Wyatt. She was predeceased by her husband Blake Royce, son Howard Harold, her brother William and her sister Addie.
