Olive Evelyne Quinney (née Burton) passed away on January 11, 2020 at the Rose Villa at the age of 95 years.
Olive was born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon on July 19, 1924. She took her schooling at Zealandia and Rosetown followed by a business course in Saskatoon. She worked as a stenographer at the main branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Saskatoon for a year and then as a stenographer for Bowman’s Automotive in Rosetown for two years. While in Rosetown, she joined young people’s and choir where she met the love of her life, Reginald Quinney. They were married on November 10, 1948 and celebrated 58 years of marriage, less two months. She was president of the younger Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian for a number of years and was an elder of the Presbyterian Church when it closed. Olive lived at the Nursing Wing and then at the Rose Villa where she resided until her passing.
Olive is survived by her daughter Lorraine Bahrey of Camrose, AB, son Bob Quinney of Saskatoon, SK, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Reg, son Roy, daughter Linda, three brothers Arthur, Earl and Ralph and two grandchildren.
The Funeral Service was held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Shanidar Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jo-Ann Hills officiating. Interment followed at the Rosetown Cemetery. Donations in memory of Olive may be made to the Rosetown United Church, P.O. Box 506, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
