Ronald Allan BORS

It is with heavy hearts the family of Ronald Allan Bors announce his passing on September 30, 2019 at Royal University Hospital at the age of 64 years. 

Ron was born on December 22, 1954 in Rosetown, SK to Bernard and Evelyn Bors.  He was raised on the family farm near McGee.  He attended school in McGee and Rosetown before moving to Saskatoon to complete his welding certificate. On October 11, 1980, he married Beverley Martens.  They returned to the family farm where they raised their three children.  Over the years, Ron acquired many skills and worked as a farmer, corral cleaner, bus driver, truck driver, grader operator and welder.  Even in his school days, he could be found in the shop.  He could and would fix almost anything. 

Ron’s younger days were spent fishing, skiing, sledding, scuba diving and racing stock cars.  Some of these hobbies continued throughout his life; however, his focus became his family.  He cherished the days together at the lake.  Countless hours were spent pulling his squealing children, nieces and nephews behind his boat.  He took great pride in the victory of knocking them out of their tubes and went to great lengths to do so.  The reminiscing and fish stories around the campfire were endless.  He looked forward to his winter getaways, often to Mexico.  He enjoyed many questionable excursions and adventures on these trips and always marveled at the crashing waves of the ocean.

Those that Ron loved, he loved deeply.  He was especially fond of his grandchildren.  His affections were often communicated with relentless teasing.  His sense of humour and mischievous laugh will be greatly missed by his family.  

Ron’s memory will be cherished by his wife Bev; daughter Melanie (Lyle) Gardiner and their children Austin, Spencer and Rowan; daughter Melissa Bors (Steven Evans); son Matthew Bors (Morgan Doetzel); siblings Brian (Linda) Bors, Laurie (Lee) Moats and Louise (Greg) Hanley; in-laws George and Esther Martens, Pat (Ron) Wade, Kerry Cave and David (Vicki) Martens as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Evelyn Bors, sister-in-law Phyllis Cave and niece Angela Moats.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life was held at the Fiske Hall on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.  A private family interment took place at 1:00 p.m. place at the Fiske Cemetery.
