Lorne Masse of Rosetown, SK, born September 19, 1935 in the Glamis area, passed away November 7, 2017 at the Elrose Health Centre at the age of 82 years.
Lorne married Beverly Barber at the Sovereign United Church on April 25, 1959. They were blessed with 3 children, Colleen, Tim and Michael. Lorne attended Kelsey institute, apprenticing with M.E. Cook and Son and later became a partner in the Rosetown shop. Lorne was a lifelong member of the Elks of Canada and was a past Exalted Ruler. He was an avid Horseman, Roper, Team Penner, and enjoyed raising exotic birds. He loved hunting and fishing and was involved with the Saskatchewan Firearm Hunter Safety Program as both instructor and Director for 25 plus years. Lorne was a sportsman. He was an elite baseball player and was asked to play on many different teams as a left-handed pitcher. He played hockey in town and later had a great time with the Rosetown Oldtimers for many years. Lorne gave to the community over 30 years of coaching young baseball players.
Lorne was predeceased by his daughter Colleen, his mother Gladys, his brother Oliver, his mother and father-in-Law Lilian and Cliff Barber and his brother-in-law Doug.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Tim, wife Tammy and children Austin and Jordan, his son Michael, wife Nyree and children Aiden and Mya, his daughter Colleen’s family husband Leroy Bevelander and children Brett and Breanne, his brother Hubert, wife Donna and daughter Michelle as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Elk’s Hall, 816 Highway 4 North, Rosetown.
