Sylvia Anne Brown (née Ruthven) passed away on December 22, 2017 at the Elrose Health Centre at the age of 53 after losing her battle with cancer.  

Sylvia was born on June 2, 1964 to parents George and Eileen Ruthven in Elrose SK. She was raised in Elrose and attended the Elrose Composite School for her education. She married Bob Jennett in 1983 and they had 2 children. Amber was born in 1986 and Dustin was born in 1990. Sylvia and Bob embarked on different paths and in 1996, Sylvia met Daniel Brown and they decided to become a family. They made it official and were married in 2003.They had three daughters, Chandra in 2001, Lacey in 2004 and Madison in 2006. In 2012, they welcomed their first granddaughter Kaylan Coakwell into the family.

Sylvia was involved with the Elrose Museum as the treasurer and spent many hours dedicating her time there, she was also a board member for the Elrose Housing Authority. Sylvia spent many years caring for children of the community in her home and one of her favourite jobs was her most recent one as one of the librarians at the Elrose Library.

Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her husband Daniel Brown, her children Amber Jennett, Dustin Jennett, Chandra Brown, Lacey Brown and Madison Brown and her granddaughter Kaylan Coakwell.  She will also be remembered by her mother Eileen Ruthven, her siblings Bev (Curtis) Loitz, Carolyn Ruthven (Max Wasyliw), Donna (Ken) Bone, Dwaine Ruthven, Stan Ruthven (Glenda Rueve) and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many cherished friends.  

Sylvia was predeceased by her father Robert George Ruthven in 2009 and numerous aunts and uncles on both the Ruthven and Steven's sides.

A Celebration of Sylvia's life was held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elrose Memorial Hall. Interment to follow at the Elrose Cemetery.
