Alma (Walters) MacDONALD

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Alma MacDonald on February 12, 2021 at the age of 97 years.

Alma was born March 18, 1923 to George and Dominica Walters, who lived in Regina, there she met Charles MacDonald. Alma worked at the Co-op creamery until Charles was discharged from the army. They got married in Regina where they remained until their two boys were born. They then moved to the MacDonald farm at Stranraer, until 1951 when their new home was done and they moved into Rosetown.

Mom enjoyed cards, board games, knitting, puzzles, travel and spending time with her close friends. Being with her friends was very important to her as they would jump into her car and go shopping, eating out, galivanting and just hanging out together. Mom had a good heart (she seemed stern on the outside, but all mush inside). She was kind and fiercely protective of her rights and others that were unjustly treated.

Mom has now joined Charles, whom she missed dearly. She was the seventh child in her family; four brothers and two sisters are gone, leaving her two youngest sisters, Jean Kerwinch and Dorothy Smith (Garry) as well as her two sons and their families: Donald (Diane) and family Angela (Trevor), Ethan Shaw (Jessica), Abigail, Elijah & Matthew; Jamee (Jodi), Madison; Ryan (Olivia), Ryan, Royce, Rogin; Lee (Alicia), Macey, Declan & Sawyer and Ken (Norma), with children of Lynda, Lori Ann (Gilbert), Graeme, Evan, Nathan; Steven (Dawn), Olivia, Jorian (Jeff), Ethan; Jace & Bryson and Michael (Tina). Mom’s extended family of nieces and nephews include Dana & Chris Szala, Annette & Danny Kolybaba, Dustin & Christine Smith and all the other children that she helped raise/babysat and thought of her as Grandma or Auntie.

We would like to thank the staff at the Elrose Health Centre for their attention and care given to our mother during her time there, thank you so much.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family celebration of life was held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.. A video of the service may be found below.
