Andrew Volette Shannon passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022 at the age of 88 years with his family by his side.
Andy was born in Rosetown on March 8, 1934, the youngest of two children born to Andrew and Nellie (nee Vollett) Shannon. He received his education at Kingsland, Camberley and Rosetown schools; then took over his father’s farm. On July 16, 1960 he married Eva Marie Wichert, a local school teacher from Fiske. In his younger days, Andy enjoyed playing ball, curling, dancing, racing cars, riding horses and playing cards - crib. He especially enjoyed trail rides with daughter Sandra and his buddies, but farming was his life. In earlier years, he was a member of the Rosetown Kinsmen and K-40 Club, was an R.M. Councilor for 18 years and liked helping neighbors in need. In later years he spent a lot of time on his hobby - woodworking and created intricate furniture and knickknacks out of imported woods. He was very precise and accurate in the venture.
Andy is lovingly remembered by his wife EvaMarie of 62 years, daughter Sandra, son Andrew Lesley (Patty) and his family Shaylyn and Lacey and his great-granddaughter Kenzie. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Nellie Shannon, his sister and brother-in-law Winifred and Bill Kennon, his granddaughter Randi Lee Shannon (Head), his in-laws Jacob and Maria Wichert, his brother and sister-in-law Jacob and Lila Wichert and Tilly and Con Adrian.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Elks Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alex Ositis Foundation, P.O. Box 1251, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
