It is with profound sadness that the family of Bev McCulloch announce her sudden passing on November 25, 2022 at the age of 67 years.
Bev leaves to mourn her loving family, husband, Gwynne McCulloch, sons, Jadynne (Tonya), Jesse (Cailey), James (Kate), mother Maxine Cormack, sister Elenore Cormack, brother Ralph Cormack and their families, and many great lifelong friends. Bev was predeceased by her father William Cormack.
Bev grew up on a farm near McGee, SK and graduated from Rosetown High School. Bev and Gwynne were married soon after high school and moved to Saskatoon, where Bev went on to graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Nursing degree. Bev appreciated the privilege to care for those in need as she successfully nursed for 30+ years before semi-retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren, family, friends and dogs Bairn and Rider. She enjoyed spending time with each of her children (and eventually grandchildren), walking the dog, working in the garden, and having long, lively phone conversations with friends and family - tying up the phone line for hours each night! There were countless trips to hockey rinks, baseball fields, golf courses, skateboard parks and ski hills with her three boys. She enjoyed many trips to Mexico and Costa Rica, where she utilized her Spanish that was dutifully practiced ahead of time. She was an avid gardener and later in life became a great golf partner to Gwynne, her boys and their spouses. Her joy for her grandchildren was evident through her famous treasure hunts and multiple backyard activities for all to enjoy. For those fortunate to know Bev, she was a kind hearted soul that welcomed everyone with a smile. Thoughtful in all her actions from fun and unique gifts in fancy “Bev bags”, to cards with her calligraphy writing, to meaningful conversations. She knew how to ask great questions to make sure people felt understood and heard - it came with such ease because it was her essence. Always reaching out to support and comfort others in times of stress, mourning, or need. Being a caregiver was truly at the center of her heart, providing gentle care to her nursing patients with extra focus on children. Caring for “little hearts and minds” were Bev’s main focus: she supported young children in her years nursing, and subsequently when she retired and worked for Parent Aide helping moms and children receive guidance and healthcare. In her gentle touch and kind soul that comforted so many patients, friends, and families. We are heartbroken that Bev is no longer with us, but are so grateful to have had her in our lives. We know that her positive energy will carry on with all who were in her presence.
Tributes in Bev’s memory may be made to a meaningful charity of your choice or to the Ronald McDonald House in Winnipeg or Edmonton, which provided support to families of many young children Bev cared for while nursing.
The celebration of Bev’s life was held at the United Church in Rosetown, SK on Wednesday, November 30 at 11:00 A.M.
