Blair FIDDLER Obituary

It is with deep sadness the family of Blair Michael Fiddler announce his peaceful passing on November 4, 2022 at the age of 59 years under the care of the most dedicated, kind team on the St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Blair was born on September 15, 1963 in Saskatoon to Lionel and Leona (née Arcand) Fiddler, the second eldest of four siblings. He attended school at St. Joseph’s and Nutana Collegiate and began working various jobs after completing school. In 1990, he met his sweetheart, Nancy Selsky and her daughter Amanda and they began their life together. They were married September 3, 1994 and welcomed their son Ryan in June 1996. Blair worked various jobs throughout his life before having to take an extended leave due to an injury.

If you knew Blair, you knew of his love for his family, his love of collectibles, his love of movies and TV shows and his tremendous love of music. He loved to attend concerts, visit and socialize and had a wonderful laugh. In his later years, Blair’s love for family grew when he welcomed his pride and joy, his granddaughters Aselin and Georgia. He was a wonderful, caring and attentive Papa, attending all the activities and events he could with his camera in tow. Although he was sick when some additional grandchildren came into his life, he always showed interest and hoped he would have more time to get to know them. Blair loved his wife Nancy and was so grateful for all of her support in their life together, especially when he became ill and he and Nancy faced his illness with attention and care. Blair was a supportive and loving Dad as well and his children will miss his check-ins to make sure they were okay. He always loved to chat with people on the phone or get together for a visit and enjoyed family gatherings and seeing all of his extended family and friends. Blair’s life path was altered when he was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer in 2020 and he struggled with finding a healthy balance with chemo and palliative care, his last couple of years were filled with countless appointments, transfusions and struggles and we are so thankful that he is finally granted his eternal peace. He will be sorely missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Blair is survived by his devoted wife Nancy Fiddler; daughter Amanda Starosta (Neal Anderson) and family PJ, Reagan, Liam, Aselin, Madelyn & Georgia; son Ryan Fiddler; mother Leona Fiddler; in-laws Dale & Mary Anne Selsky; siblings Laverne Fiddler, Wanda Fiddler (Drew McLean) and Dwayne (Donna) Fiddler; sisters-in-law Gerri Anne Luciuk, Barb (Glen) Zerebeski and Angela Selsky as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father Lionel Fiddler as well as numerous other relatives.

A Celebration of Blair's Life was held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 606 Spadina Crescent West, Saskatoon, SK. In keeping with Blair’s love of music, we invite those wishing to attend to wear their favorite band shirt or to don their Montreal Canadiens gear, go Habs go! Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with expenses at https://gofund.me/7e138d67.
