Brian Dennis BOYD

It is with profound sadness the family of Brian Dennis Boyd of Rosetown, SK announce his sudden passing on September 3, 2022 at the age of 74 years.

Brian was born in Kindersley on May 31, 1948 to Jack and Marj Boyd and a middle brother to Barry and Rick. The family farmed south of Coleville and Brian attended school in Coleville for a short time before they moved to Kindersley. He completed high school and went on to attend the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his degree in Education.

Brian married Linda Howie in 1969 and together they raised three children, Jana, Travis and Angel. The family moved to Rosetown in 1973 when Brian started his teaching career. Brian later went on to open Boyd’s Men’s Wear which he operated for approximately 20 years. Brian was an active member of the Rosetown Elks for many years. He later returned to teaching in Kindersley before retiring to full-time construction.

Brian married Doreen Peterson in 1988 and together they raised Jodie Peterson. He loved to watch his grandchildren compete in various sports activities. Brian and Doreen traveled to Phoenix in the winter where he loved golfing and visiting with new friends and family. Brian is best remembered for his love of sports, especially hockey, softball and golf and in later years, pickle ball. He played on many local and provincial teams. He loved biking and could often be seen on the highway or around town. He loved to visit with people and loved to meet at various locations around Rosetown to discuss “current events”. He was a great confidant to many of his friends.

Brian is survived by his spouse Doreen Boyd; children Jana Clark, Travis (Michelle) Boyd, Angel (Kelly) Ostrom and Jodie (Calvin) Walz; grandchildren Brittany (Daniel) Evans, Brooke Clark, Brendan Boyd, Megan Boyd, Grady Ostrom, Kayden Ostrom, Hannah, Ashlyn and Brynn Walz; great-granddaughter Halle Evans; mother Marjorie Boyd; brothers Barry (Cathy) Boyd and Rick (Donna) Boyd; nieces and nephews Jen, Brittany, Cameron, Shawna and Shelby. He was predeceased by his father John Boyd, twin infant brothers, numerous grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Brian's Life was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosetown United Church with Reverend Allan Gairns officiating. Donations in memory of Brian may be made to the Rosetown Golf Club or the Rosetown Minor Athletic Association.
