Donald GREY Obituary

It is with profound sadness the family of Donald "Donny" Anthony (Halter) Grey announce his peaceful passing into the arms of the Lord on February 6, 2021 at the age of 44 years.

Donald was born on April 3, 1976 in Kerrobert, SK, Donny grew up in the Saskatoon area and Vancouver, BC. Donny had a love for lacrosse and was on kids’ team in Vancouver. He enjoyed church, music and the outdoors. Donny could always be found with a big, beautiful smile capturing everyone’s hearts and he had a huge heart full of love and compassion. As he got older, you could find him helping everyone at funerals, moving and anything people needed a hand with. Even though he wasn’t rich in money, he was rich in spirit, he would give his last dollar to help someone. Donny loved the Montréal Canadiens, the San Francisco 49ers and praise and worship music (he sang along). He enjoyed travelling and made his way to Quebec where he became involved in wrestling - he loved it! Donny and his Mom enjoyed Bingo, taking car rides where they would sing together, truly cherishing every moment. Donny travelled with the carnival bringing laughter and joy to kids of all ages. He loved working and worked hard on the oil rigs and with Construction 41 doing roofing.

Donny was diagnosed in March 2020 with lung cancer. He fought a hard fight and through it all, he remained positive. “I can do this” or “God’s got this” were his strength, words we often heard. He never let cancer get him down, he was always more worried about how his family were holding up. Donald attended Teen Challenge where his faith in God grew and grew, receiving an “Honorary Graduate” diploma.

We are so proud of you Donny and you are loved by so many.

Donny is survived by his mother Alice el Khirani, step-dad Bouabid el Khirani, brother Andre (Natalie) Grey and son Asher, brother Dustin Grey, sister Amanda Grey (Willie Hinton) and children Cameron and Alicia, sister Vanessa Grey and children Jordan, Aaliyah and Olivia, grandmother Flora Walker, aunty-mom MaryAnn Dyck as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daddy Donald Spence, grandpa Matthew A. Halter, uncle Matthew W. Halter, grandpa John Walker, grandpa Ray Belcourt, grandma Eva Spence, aunt Jane Spence, sisters Baby Natasha Andrea and Baby Faith, great-grandma Alice McAdam and great-grandpa Albert McAdam.
