It is with sadness the family of Doreen Lewicki announce her passing on July 24, 2023 at Rose Villa at the age of 92 years.
Doreen Mora McLeod was born in Rosetown on September 15, 1930. She grew up on the farm in the Eagle Crest district where she took her schooling. She completed high school in Rosetown and then went to Normal School in Saskatoon. She taught in several small schools including Tessier, Stranraer and her own school at Eagle Crest. She met her future husband James Lewicki at the Presbyterian Church and they were married August 8, 1952. Together they raised five children spending many hours driving them and being involved in their sports and music events.
Doreen was the best volunteer and she enjoyed it immensely. She tirelessly gave of her time at The Lodge and The Wing and tended to the flower beds at The Lodge. She was also heavily involved in the Presbyterian Church, the Rosetown Music Festival and the figure skating club.
Doreen loved to garden and truly had a green thumb - her garden was picture perfect! Her other passion was cooking and baking. The freezers were always full so she never ran out of goodies if anyone stopped by for a visit - some of her recipes are legendary!
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Jim, parents Edith and Neil McLeod, brother and sister-in-law Alf and Leona Murray, sister Margie McLeod, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Ben Schroeder and brother-in-law Doug Lewicki. She is survived by her children Steve (Brenda) Lewicki, Deb (Dave) Sparks, Dave (Laura) Lewicki, Pat (Brian) Acker and Lori (Mark) Vaningan; grandchildren Kristen, Christopher, Jeff, Kendra, Daniel, Michael, Nathan, Phillip, Patrick, Matthew, Cody, Julia and Ryla; great-grandchildren Kinsey, Rhett and Wyatt; sister-in-law Gail Lewicki as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also extended her family to include Bill, Brenda and Kathy. She always said she was blessed and very proud of her family.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held.
