Eda Rose (Ferguson) HOVLAND

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Eda Hovland on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 86 years.

Eda Rose Hovland was born June 16, 1934 in Tuberose, SK.  She grew up in Horsebutte, located within the Kyle district, attending Horsebutte School and other various country schools that her mother taught at. 

Eda married Roald Hovland in Swift Current, SK in September 1953.  Together they raised their three children Norman, Linda and Laurie on the family farm at Kyle, SK.

Eda enjoyed reading, doing word searches, playing bingo and having coffee with her friends and family.

Eda is survived by her brother Neil (Tammie Penty) Ferguson; children Norman (Barbara) Hovland and Linda (Brien) Wilson; grandchildren Rachelle (Chris) Smith, Adele (Marcel) Charpentier, Dusty Hodgkinson, Chelsey Hodgkinson-Wilson, Nikki (Reid Styranko) Hovland, April Hovland, Kimberly (Chris) St Pierre, Tyler Hovland and Terry Hovland; great-grandchildren Cassandra and Owen Smith, Marcus and Alyssa Charpentier, Aniella, Saulomon, Lyla and Cecilia St Pierre and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.  Eda was predeceased by her parents Viola Ferguson (née Olmstead) and Donald Ferguson, husband Roald Hovland, daughter Laurie Hovland, brother Donnie Ferguson, sisters Isabelle Davis and Margaret Fuller, sister-in-law Marie Ferguson and brothers-in-law Red Davis and Ron Fuller.

A private family viewing was held followed by a family graveside service on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Clearwater Cemetery.

A special thank-you to the staff at Elrose Health Centre, Rosetown Health Centre and Kyle Southview Apartments.  Eda was given much love, care and compassion from these exceptional workers.
