Eva Ingrid (Bye) ERICKSON

The family of Eva Erickson, age 88, is saddened to announce her passing on February 9, 2018.

Eva Ingrid Erickson (née Bye) was born on July 14, 1929 to Sverre and Oline Bye, the second of their four children.  She was raised on a farm in the Veteran and Throne areas of Alberta.  Her High School education took place at Camrose Lutheran Bible College. After graduation, Eva worked in Coronation, Rosetown, Winnipeg and Calgary.  She was employed as a secretary at Mann Agencies in Outlook where she met and later married Hendrik Erickson on February 6, 1967.  Eva and Henry settled at the farm near Kyle, where they built a home and farmed for 40 years.  Eva worked alongside Henry and was involved in all aspects of the farm operation.

Eva enjoyed the outdoors.  She produced wonderful gardens and had shelves of preserves stored for winter. Eva and Henry enjoyed visiting family and friends and would travel long distances to attend family functions. Eva was active member of the Lutheran Church in Kyle.  She had a deep and unwavering faith that sustained her throughout difficult times. She was a loyal member of the Legion Auxiliary and she enjoyed being a part of the North Landing Social Club.  Eva loved to sew, knit, and crochet, her hands were never idle as she spent many hours making gifts for others.  

In 2007, when it became necessary for Henry to move to the Elrose Health Center, Eva relocated to Kyle, where she resided until her passing.

Eva was predeceased by her husband Henry, her parents Sverre and Oline Bye, brother Arnold Bye, sister-in-law Muriel Bye, brother-in-law Danny Ahern, sister Mabel Sallee, step-mother Laga Bye and step brothers Allan and Arthur Kardal.

Eva is survived by her sister Molfrid (Freddy) Ahern-Jubinville; step-sister Eleanor Kolisnyk as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in Norway.

The family would like to thank the friends and neighbors who were so important in Eva’s life.   Your support, care and friendship was very much appreciated.

The Funeral Service was held at the Clearwater Lutheran Church in Kyle, SK on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Linda Hall officiating, interment followed at the Clearwater Cemetery.
