It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Gary Nelson Julseth on October 31, 2024 at the Kindersley Hospital after a brief, losing battle with cancer.
Gary was born February 26, 1946 at City Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. The family lived for a short time in Girvin, SK and then in Saskatoon, SK, before settling on a farm south of Plenty, SK. After graduating from high school, he went on take an industrial drafting course at the Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, SK. While in Moose Jaw he met Judy McCrea and they married November 9, 1968. They each found employment in Saskatoon and moved there. Gary realized he needed more satisfaction and challenge than his job was providing and they decided he should go for higher education. He received a Bachelor of Engineering in Geology from the U of S in 1973. Coincidentally welcoming their first son, Kevan, into the world in February of that year. Their next move was to Regina for employment for him and motherhood for her when a second son was born in November 1975. The final move for the family was back to Plenty to become farmers. A third son (or new hired hand, as he put it in his journal) was born in August 1981.
He was passionate about farming, loved the land and the lifestyle. He liked to play and watch sports, reading and watching movies. His greatest joy lay in his children and grandchildren, teaching them life skills, watching them grow and leading by example.
Gary is survived by his wife Judy; son Kevan (Carmen), grandchildren Isaac, Nate, Leah and Graham; son Brian (Cherise), grandchildren, Jaden, Taylor, Autumn, Caleb and Dakota; son Shane. Also left to morn are his brother Glenn (Joan) Julseth; sisters Jeanne Nichol, Janice Meakin and Linda (Les Precesky); sister-in-law Brenda McCrea; brother-in-law Richard (Nancy) McCrea as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents WN (Nels) and Ethel Julseth, brother David Julseth, special mother Velma McCrea and sister-in-law Marilyn McCrea.
