Glenn McDONALD Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Russell Glenn McDonald.

Glenn was born on October 5, 1958, to Burns and Kay McDonald.  Glenn grew up at the farm near Wartime where his early years were spent with his brothers, and playing hockey and baseball.  He completed his schooling in Elrose and since then has seized every opportunity that arose. He was a jack of all trades having many careers from owning the lumber yard, to a car salesman, to the oilfield, and back to the farm.

He put down roots in Elrose and started a family of his own, becoming complete nine years ago when he met an amazing woman, Lily.  Glenn’s love for hockey and his girls filled his time and leaves a legacy that will live on.

Glenn is survived by his wife Lily McDonald; his mother Kay McDonald and his three daughters; Lauren (Justin) Anderson, their children Elliott & Sadie; Nancy (Tyrell) Christianson and their children Emma & Kade; and Jan (Austin) McCann.

Glenn was predeceased by his father Burns McDonald; siblings Scott, Clark, and Karen McDonald; and son Phillip McDonald.

Glenn loved to visit and make everyone feel special.  He enjoyed cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Blue Jays, Elrose Aces and every local connection to a sports team but the biggest joy of his life was his family. He will be dearly missed as he has taken his place in heaven’s hockey room.

A Celebration of Glenn's Life was held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elrose Uniplex. A recording of the service may be viewed here.

Donations in memory of Glenn may be directed to the Elrose-Monet Recreation Board, P.O. Box 370, Elrose, SK, S0L 0Z0, elroserec@sasktel.net.
