Gordon Morley Smith
Born July 17, 1929 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. Passed Aug 12, 2022 in Rosetown.
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gordon Smith has to announce his passing just weeks after celebrating his 93rd birthday.
Gordon spent his entire life in Rosetown and enjoyed every minute of it. He devoted nearly all of his working years engaged in various capacities at Kings Ltd. At the end of his retail working career, he owned and operated Kings Ltd solely as a shoe store with his wife Marian at his side. Over the years, virtually every person in the area passed through doors and had contact with Gordon. He met and remembered almost everyone (and their shoe size). He was very active in his community participating on various boards, authorities, fraternities and wore a firefighter’s hat for the local volunteer fire department. Any spare time he had he devoted to his park-like yard and gardens (and the birds that they attracted), camping, fishing and pattern dancing with Marian. There was always time for a good cup of coffee with friends to tell stories and solve all the small towns’ problems.
Along the path of his life, he fell in love with and married Marian Wilkie of Tuberose and proceeded to raise a family. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Gertrude and his siblings, Edna, Mick and Donna. He is missed and survived by his sons Les (Joan) of Saskatoon and Neil (Louise) of Kelowna, granddaughters Kayleigh, Lacey, Adrianna, Kristen, Michelle and grandson Chris along with their respective families which include eight great grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by brother- in- laws Ron Hay and Garner Dawe, sister-in-law Gerry Smith and a numerous nieces and nephews.
A Come and Go Tea will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Senior Centre.
