Hazel Loucks (Retired Teacher), born August 7, 1928 in Delisle, SK died September 7, 2023 peacefully at Rose Villa, Rosetown, SK.
Hazel taught school from 1948 to 1986. She first taught at Zealandia and Laura for several years before her 30 years of teaching at Walter Aseltine Elementary School in Rosetown. “When I taught school at Walter Aseltine School the kids would say to me ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ and I would say to them you have two mothers, when you’re at home, you have your own mother and when you’re at school, I’m your school mother.” Hazel’s retirement was in 1986 after 38 years of teaching.
Hazel was predeceased by her parents Robert Shannon Loucks (1977) and Evelyn Elma (nee Evans) Loucks (1977) and her brothers Harold (2016) and Bill (1994) (Betty, 2016). Hazel is fondly remembered by her six nephews Ron, Ken, Bob, Doug, Bill and Bruce and their families including many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Many thanks for the care provided by Rose Villa staff who affectionately called her ‘Teacher.’ The family would appreciate donations to Rose Villa or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Cremation has occurred. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Shanidar Funeral Services in Rosetown, SK followed by a light lunch. All that knew and loved her are invited. Post service, an interment at the family plot will occur in Delisle, SK.
