Irene (Taylor) SCRIVENS

October 15, 1933 ~ June 6, 2022 (age 88)

It is with great sadness the family of Irene Scrivens announce her passing on June 6, 2022 at the Rosetown & District Health Centre at the age of 88 years.

Irene was born on October 15, 1933 to Ray and Clara Taylor at the Rosetown Hospital. Irene’s early life was spent growing up in Fiske, SK. She enjoyed spending time with her grandparents and family as a young girl. As she grew into a young lady, she worked in a cook car for the Department of Highways as a cook’s assistant at the age of 13 and at the age of 16, she took a housekeeping job at the Rosetown Hospital. At the age of 18, under the watchful hand of Miss Ganten, the matron in charge of the nursing staff, she became a nurse’s aide. She moved into the nurse’s residence where she made some wonderful friends and had lots of fun. Irene moved to Calgary where she worked with her cousin June at The Bay for a short time. Her heart was drawn back to Saskatchewan, so she returned for a job at the Kyle Hospital. It was at this time, she met Thomas Scrivens whom she fell in love with and married on Valentines Day, February 14, 1961 at the Rosetown United Church. Irene and Tom were blessed with two daughters, Deborah and D’Vonne. In 1967, the family moved to Saskatoon where Irene worked at Sherbrooke Nursing Home and finished her working years at the Royal University Hospital in the Dietary Department. Upon retirement, Irene moved to Rosetown in 1992 where she remained in her own home until recently, spending a short time at the Rose Villa where she received wonderful, loving care until her passing.

Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, going to dances and playing cards. She always enjoyed going to the Exhibition in Saskatoon as a family for many years and loved attending the Scrivens family gathering in August each year.

Irene was a faith filled and loving woman and her loss will be felt by all those who knew and loved her.

Irene is survived by her daughter D’Vonne Scrivens (Ron Capnerhurst), sister Georgina,
granddaughter Luana “Lu” Capnerhurst , great granddaughter Bobbi Capnerhurst (Ryan); granddaughter Trey Capnerhurst, great granddaughter Mannwinn, great grandson Sandy; Grandson Dale “Kelly“ Capnerhurst as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah in 1987, her husband Tom in 1989, her parents, brother Lester, sister Gladys, brothers-in-law Al, Bob and Ken and sister-in-law Ann.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosetown Alliance Church with Pastor Dan Esau and Pastor Tim Cadieux officiating. Interment followed in the Fiske Cemetery.
