Jack CHAPMAN Obituary

It is with sadness the family of John "Jack" Chapman announce his peaceful passing on March 14, 2025 at Rose Villa at the age of 81 years.

Jack was born on May 23, 1943 in Mossbank, SK to parents Jack & Esther Chapman. While he was growing up, they spent time in many communities including Plato, Delisle, Viscount, Mont Nebo, Perdue and Rosetown. Jack graduated high school in Rosetown and this remained his home for the rest of his life. He met his future wife Leona Funk and they were married on July 3, 1971. They made their home in Rosetown where they welcomed three children - Chris, Lori and Susan and eventually seven grandchildren who were the light of Jack's life. Jack worked for the Rosetown Eagle for a many years and worked 20 years as a dedicated employee with the Town of Rosetown, there was no job to big or too small and Jack was always willing to help out in any way he could.

Jack loved sports, he enjoyed travelling around when the kids were young to hockey and ball games spending time on the bench or in the dugout as coach, in the stands cheering on the team and managing when the need arose. He was a dedicated fan of the Rosetown Redwings, cheering on the team for many years as well as his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders wishing for another Grey Cup like 2013. In addition to coaching, Jack was involved in the community by volunteering as a Scout leader, being a member of the Odd Fellows and spending time on the RMAA board. Jack was dedicated to his community, he loved Rosetown and was proud that he spent the majority of his life here.

Jack was never in a hurry, he always had time for a visit, a joke and a laugh. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. He was hardworking, compassionate and a very loving and caring man. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jack will be missed by his wife Leona Chapman, children Chris (Deb) Chapman and children Kourtney and Ryder, Lori (Mike) Niccolls and children Brittany, Mary, Quinn, Justice and Parker and Susan Chapman, siblings Louise (Ron) Schwartz, Bertha (Ron) Kaiser and Margaret (Ryan) Schwartz and sister-in-law Rita (Jim) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
