Jean CLARK Obituary

Jean Scott Clark (Morris) passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at the Elrose Health Centre on January 26th, 2024.  Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the EHC who cared for Jean for the last 5 years.

Jean was born September 25th, 1925.  She grew up on a farm near Zealandia with her parents, sister and 2 brothers.  She loved driving the cutter to school in the winter.  Her family survived the dirty 30’s when she said it was dark all day long.  Her family was active in the community and kept busy at home with field work, animals and a big garden.  Jean loved planting gardens, flowers and caring for house plants for many years to come.

Jean married John (Jack) Clark also from Zealandia on December 11, 1944.  They spent their honeymoon in Saskatoon.  On their way home the car that they had borrowed broke down and Jean’s Dad had to come pick them up.  Together Jean and Jack had 4 children.  Sandra, Bill, Dan & Dave.  They farmed north of Zealandia for a few years and then rented out the farm and headed to Cutbank, SK.  The family settled into life at Cutbank and Jack worked on the new Gardiner Damn project as a welder.  After the completion of the damn the family moved to Gilliam, MB via train for Jack to work on a new damn project.  It was quite remote.  They brought their car to Gilliam via train and it was one of the first automobiles in the area.  The family returned to the farm in the 1960’s. Danny continued to farm and his family lived across the road from his parents.

Jean and Jack started going south in the winter in the 1970’s.  They loved adventure.  They drove until the snow was gone and the sun was shining.  The visited places in Mexico, California and settled in Yuma, AZ.  They spent 35 winters there enjoying life in the sun.  Jean stayed active with bridge, painting, crocheting, visiting with friends, and winning many trophies in shuffleboard.

Jean loved spending time with her 9 grandchildren.  She taught them how to play cards, be kind and enjoy life.  She had many great grandchildren and also passed on the love of life to them.  Right to the age of 98 years she was a great visitor, loved to laugh, explain how things work, share her ideas & give great hugs.

Jean was survived by her sons Dan & Dave.  Grandchildren Tim (Arlee), Dawna (Dave), Tish (Chris), Wade (Nicole), Chris (Lisa), Trevor (Patty), Christy (Curtis), Teri-Lynn (Lindsay) & Neil along with numerous great grands.  Jean was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Jack, son Bill and daughter Sandra.

A private family service will be held in the spring.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
