Joan Verna (English) TATOMIR

It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joan V. Tatomir. Joan passed with family by her side at the Royal University Hospital at the age of 77.

Joan was born March 22, 1946 in Kindersley SK. She was brought home to Pinkham and a year later moved to Madison. In 1948 her family moved to Wartime and her parents purchased the Wartime store. She went to school in Wartime until grade 8. She completed high school in Elrose, SK. After high school graduation she attended Saskatoon Business College. Joan started dating her husband Teddy in 1963 and they were married June 26, 1965. They made their home of 56 years in Elrose, SK where they raised 4 beautiful girls. Joan loved her career as the Elrose Composite School secretary and was very sad to retire after 42 years. Towards the ends of her school career Joan took on administrative responsibilities with the village of Greig Lake. In her younger years Joan was an active member of many community clubs and committees. She kept busy coaching, going to church, volunteering at school events, catering and enjoyed going to dances with Teddy. She enjoyed summers at Greig Lake, baking with her grandchildren, playing cards, curling, going to the casino and loved watching her grandchildren’s activities.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Barbara Loitz, Terri Lynn Walker (Neil), Christine Tatomir, Jennifer Fitzpatrick (Rob); grandchildren: Courtney Walker (Kirston), Paige Paproski (Travis), Ashley Hann (Tanner), Matthew Tatomir, Brooke Fitzpatrick; great-granddaughter: Payton Paproski; sisters: Dell LeBoeuf, Colleen Hawrilyw (Dale), Fern Ludwig (Doug); brothers and sisters-in-law: Ila Tatomir, John Tatomir (Donna), Roy Tatomir, Jim Tatomir (Marg), Helen Black (Dave) and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Joan’s Life will held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elrose Memorial Hall with Pastor Deborah Springer officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to the Elrose Composite School SRC.
