John MARJERISON Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of John Dell Marjerison announce his passing at the Rosetown & District Health Centre on April 7, 2020, at the age of 92 years.

John was born in Eston, Saskatchewan on July 25, 1927, the middle child of Lorne and Ethel Marjerison.

He was raised on a farm north of Greenan, Saskatchewan. At the young age of 16, with an injury to his father, he left school to run the family farm.  Education was important to John and he later returned to complete his GED.  John was very involved in all aspects of the community, from minor hockey coach, Rural Telephone Association President, Councillor of R. M. of Snipe Lake, and numerous positions within the Saskatchewan Health Care Association, and Trustee of Eston, Palisser and University Hospital Boards.

He was a fixer and maker extraordinaire. He repaired broken jewellery and broken farm equipment with equal concern and attention to detail. He was a large man missing the ends of a couple of fingers, but he could do fine needlepoint, crochet and knitting. He was the ultimate extrovert. His definition of family was broad, he made friends wherever he went. He was an oral historian, telling and re-telling the story of his family and the area where they settled and grew up.

John is survived by his wife Rosemarie Gilchrist, daughter Linda and Ed Mryglod , son-in-law Stan MacEwen and Debbie, step-children Diane and George Myers, Dale and Marilyn Gilchrist, Allan and Donna Gilchrist, Doug and Tammie Gilchrist, Hughie and Michelle Gilchrist, Terry Gilchrist and Gloria Longworth,  grandchildren Angella MacEwen and Isaac Tamblyn, Kim and Neil Bebyck, Ryan MacEwen, Shannon and Lee Chanin, Crystal and Steve Regier, Laura and Todd Davies, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Lorne and Ethel Marjerison, wife Ruth (Newton), daughter Brenda MacEwen, sister Elsie Newton and brother Jim Marjerison.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. Donations in memory of John may be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle, 2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK. S7L 6A8 or to a charity of your choice.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
