Lewis KALLECHY Obituary

Lewis Theodore Kallechy born February 22, 1933, passed away peacefully at the Rosetown Hospital on July 14, 2021.

Born in Lacadena to William and Mabel Kallechy, Lewis grew up and attended school in White Bear, SK.  Lewis loved his horse and playing his guitar by ear in his younger years.

A White Bear dance is where Lewis met his love, Annette Westgard.  Soon after, he left for Thunder Bay Ontario for work as an equipment operator and Annette begged to follow.  Lewis and Annette married August 1957 and in May 1958 moved to Sceptre, SK for Lewis to take a job as motor grader operator for the RM of Clinworth.  Sceptre is where Lewis and Annette raised their five children. Lewis was active and talented in baseball and curling during his time in Sceptre and his talent and competitive drive were passed along to his kids.  Lewis also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family during his time away from work.  In 1958, through his strong work ethic, Lewis was promoted to foreman until 1992 when they moved to the family farm in Lacadena and he was hired as foreman for the RM of Lacadena.  Lewis was well respected, not afraid of hard work and had high expectation of his crew as foreman for both RM’s.  Lewis retired from the RM of Lacadena in 1998.  Road building and heavy equipment operating was passed along to both of Lewis’ sons and he was able to spend time working for both in his retirement years.  He was proud of all his family and their accomplishments.

Before Annette passed away in 1994, they renovated and made the family farm their own.  They were proud of the home they created together.  Lewis loved farming and farmed until 2013 when he started renting out and eventually selling sections of land.  He held onto many pieces of equipment as his heart could not let go of farming.

Lewis was lucky enough to meet another leading lady, Louise Dixon in 1998.  Louise got Lewis to explore a small section of the country through RV trips and many fishing excursions.  It was a joy to see him enjoying his retirement he worked so hard to earn.

Lewis experienced great heartache and sorrow when he was predeceased by his granddaughter Carissa, grandson Norris, daughter Penny, wife Annette and sons Aubrey and Owen.  He was also predeceased by his brothers Ellis and Keith.

Lewis is survived by his partner Louise, his two daughters Shelley (Lyle) Wiebe and Rachelle (Ryan) Davies, daughters-in-law Daphne and Marilyn, grandchildren Ashley, Derek (Pam), Melissa (Terry), Floyd, Samantha, Colton, Ashton (Cam), Maddison and Maxwell and great-grandchildren Logan, Paige, Lily, Kale, Kieran, Hunter, Bryer, Brantley and Asher.  He is also survived by his two sisters Irene and Phyllis.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Sceptre United Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment at the Sceptre Cemetery, a luncheon followed at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Lewis had requested donations to the Sceptre Cemetery Fund.
