Linda Coreen Bec of Herschel, Saskatchewan died peacefully at Rose Villa on May 16, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Eileen McLeod and her brother, Brian McLeod. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Lionel; her sons Ryan, Devon (Roxy), and Chris (Mikayla); and was a very proud grandma to Brandon and Abigail. She also leaves behind her brother, Allan (Linda) and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will all miss her dearly.
Linda was born at the hospital in Kipling, SK on December 20, 1954 and lived with her parents and brothers in Glenavon until 1961. She began school in Milden but then moved to Herschel about two-thirds of the way through the school year. She attended school in Herschel until grade 9 when she started high school in Rosetown. Her parents ran the local grocery store in Herschel, McLeod’s Store. Growing up, Linda enjoyed figure skating.
In 1973, Linda met Lionel while attending school in Saskatoon. They met while roller skating and went to Venice House for pizza afterwards - a supper tradition they continued every time they went to Saskatoon. Once finished school, Linda worked for a year in Saskatoon. She and Lionel were married in May of 1977 and moved to Herschel.
They built a wonderful life together in Herschel where they raised their three sons: Ryan, Devon and Chris. Linda and Lionel were always staying busy - curling, attending Rosetown Redwing games, and staying busy with their boys’ hockey schedules. One of Linda’s greatest joys was watching her sons play hockey. She also cherished her daily coffee visits with her Aunt Phyllis and her Mother, a tradition she continued until their passings.
She was a devoted Edmonton Oilers fan who never missed watching a game and always stayed up to date with the latest team news.
In the summers she loved going camping, especially family camping trips. From going camping in the tent trailer with the boys when they were young, to going camping with Lionel in their trailer, her summers were always filled with time at the campground and planning for the next camping trip or thinking of crafty ways to make improvements to the trailer setup.
She had a love for animals, especially dogs, and her pets brought her great comfort and companionship.
Linda was passionate about genealogy, thoroughly researching both the McLeod and Bec family trees. Her knowledge of family history was impressive and a source of pride.
Holidays and family gatherings were filled with delicious food and baking lovingly prepared by Linda. Her home cooked meals were unforgettable and always in high demand.
Linda was creative and hands-on, she excelled at quilting, knitting, crocheting, diamond art, and painting. If there was a new craft to try, she was always up for it. Linda was also very tech savvy - if there was a problem with an electronic device, she was determined to figure out a fix.
Linda’s creativity, determination, and deep love for her family will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
