Lorral Marvin LEIS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our very dear dad, Lorral Leis.

Lorral is survived and deeply missed by his wife Elizabeth Ann (Beth), daughters Katie (Tanner) Donahue, Jessica (Mark) Thibault and grandchildren Riley and Gemma Donahue and Wyatt, Rey and Toby Thibault.

Lorral was predeceased by his parents Marvin and Josephine Leis and sisters Judy Tyacke and Bonnie Leis.

In 1947 Lorral Marvin Leis was born in Elrose, Saskatchewan. He, along with sisters Judy and Bonnie were the third generation to live on the original Leis homestead just south of Elrose. Upon graduating from high school in Elrose, Lorral trained to be a sheet metal worker in Saskatoon. After working on buildings in both Saskatoon and Calgary, he moved home to help on the family farm.

Shortly after moving back to Elrose, Lorral met Elizabeth Ann (Beth) Elliott and they were married in 1973. Lorral and Beth built a house on the home quarter and joined the family farm.

In 1986 daughter Katie was born and in 1987 they welcomed daughter Jessica to the family. Lorral found true fulfillment in Herefords and horses, farming and family and continued farming into his later years, eventually alongside daughter Katie. Lorral also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino with a $20 bill.

 As his grandchildren started to arrive, he found joy in playing, teasing and sharing treats with them. Grandpa’s house was always well-stocked with the very best treats.

Please join us in celebrating Lorral’s life at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Shanidar Funeral Services in Rosetown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorral’s name to the Huntington’s Society of Canada at https://www.huntingtonsociety.ca/.

We miss you and love you, Dad. Rest easy; hopefully we get to see you again someday.
