Louis SPARKS Obituary

It is with sadness in our hearts that we share the news of the passing of our husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Louis Edwin Sparks on February 22, 2023 at the age of 87.

Louis was born on May 4, 1935 in Rosetown, Sk. He attended school in Madoc, Biggar, Glamis, Campion College in Regina and Rosetown. Louis received his diploma from the School of Agriculture in Saskatoon in 1956. Also, in 1956 he married his high school sweetheart Darlene Coulter and in 1960 they moved to the home farm in the Glamis district and became full-fledged farmers. This is where his love of farming began and together, they raised their family of 6 children.  Louis was very involved as a hockey coach, assistant cub leader, member of the Rosetown Kinsmen and Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed curling, hockey, camping, golfing and downhill skiing.  Louis received his pilot’s license in 1959.  Flying became his passion and he was very involved in the Rosetown Flying Club and the Saskatchewan Flying Farmers.   Louis and Darlene spent many winters travelling south as well as going on many bus tours, meeting and socializing with many people.  After Louis sold his plane, his new passion was biking, buying a Honda Goldwing and going on many bike trips to the US and throughout the mountains in Canada.  Once they no longer went south, camping with the Good Sam RV Club and their biking adventures kept them very busy.  Switching to a Can-Am Spyder allowed them to continue to enjoy biking right up until the end.

More recently, Louis’ passion was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.  He took great pride in all their accomplishments.  All he cared about was being together with his family.

Louis is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 66 years, Darlene; son David (Deb) Sparks and family Chris (Amber), Jeff (Jera), Kendra (Mike), great-granddaughter Kinsey; daughter Val (Mike) Lefebvre and family Kevin (Kristin), children Elyse, Louis, Adalyn, Clara; Darren (Krista) child Colter; Heather (Greg), children Callie, Zach, Bria; Janine (Craig) children, Blayke, Weston, Brooks; daughter Cheryl (Rick) McKeil and family Sherry (Brian), children Emmeline, Nicholas, Julianna; Shawna (Dallas), children Beckham, Madden; Kyle; son Don (Jennifer) Sparks and family Morgan(Erin); Justin; daughter Karen (Kelly) McFaull and family Kendall(Alyssa), Kristina(Regan) child Cohen; daughter Lisa (Boyd) Hampson and family Brett, Brooke.  He was very proud of his 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
