Manford MOEN Obituary

Manford Lyle Moen passed away peacefully at the family farm on May 4th, 2021, with his loving wife Elaine and his three children by his side.

Manny was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan January 7, 1943 to father, Grant Earl Moen and mother, Marjorie Quinn Moen. He was the youngest of three children. Manny was married to Elaine Kress on June 18, 1962. Together, they had the twins Bonnie and Brent, followed by Todd.

Manny loved life on the farm. He had a deep appreciation and love for the land, livestock and country way of life. Manny was a natural athlete and excelled at any sport he participated in. At one point, he played on 3 hockey teams at the same time, Midget, Juvenile and Senior. He loved the good game of old time hockey. Manny also took up calf roping and team roping on the heeling side, later in life. You would have never known that he had not done either prior, as he sure could put a nice loop on one fast. Many evenings and weekends were spent in a rodeo arena. Manny was a gold card life member of the Canadian Cowboy Association. Manny also enjoyed hunting, golfing, curling and playing pool.

Manny suffered a serious electrical farming accident on April 16, 1992. This changed his life forever. Due to this, Manny endured much pain and discomfort the rest of his life, but you would never hear him complain. He was the definition of resiliency. Manny continued to play an active role on the farm and live life to its fullest. He was an inspiring example of courage and strength.

Manny was a kind hearted, loving and generous man with the best sense of humor. He always enjoyed a conversation over a cup of good coffee. Manny had a way with words; he could always be turned to for advice and reassurance. He stood up for what was right and fair. Manny supported his family and friends in anyway he could. Like his father, Manny believed in the good neighbour policy and a hand shake. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Manny was a man of integrity and honor. We shall miss dearly and carry him in our memory everyday.

Manford is survived by his wife, Elaine and their children. Daughter, Bonnie Daines (Mark) and her children Jocelyn (Kyle) O’Neill and Wyatt Daines (Kristi). Son, Brent Moen and his children Kashtin (Wiktoria) Moen, Buck (Shayana) Moen, JB Moen (Amber) and Makayla Moen (Denton). Son, Todd (Kandace) Moen and their daughters Arisha (Jason) Briggs and Mariah (Justin) Chalifour. His great grandchildren, Brigham (Wyatt and Kristi), Quinn (Kyle and Jocelyn), Henry and George (Kashtin and Wiktoria). He is also survived by his sister Scheila (Gordon) Retzlaff. He was predeceased by his parents, Grant and Marge Moen and brother Melvin.

Memorial donations in Manny’s memory may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
