It is with sadness the family of Margaret Ann Jean McConnell (née Mackrell) announce her passing at Eatonia Oasis Living on August 15, 2020 at the age of 102 years.
Margaret was born to Andrew and Margaret Mackrell on November 29, 1917 in Saskatoon, SK. She grew up on the homestead 10 miles north of Dodsland and attended school at Toledo, taking high school by correspondence. She married Jack McConnell in 1942, living many places while Jack was in the navy. In 1952, they returned to the farm at Dodsland and she and Jack parted ways. Margaret went to Sarnia, ON where she became a hair dresser. In 1970, she went on a 2-year mission with the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 1974, she returned to Dodsland and worked as the Village Secretary until her retirement. In June 2013, she moved to Eatonia Oasis Living where she resided until her passing.
Margaret is survived by her sister Doris Kennon, sisters-in-law Anna Mackrell, Betty Mackrell and Minnie Mackrell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Margaret Mackrell, brothers Bill, Edgar, Jack and Glen and sisters Helen, Hazel and Vera.
A private family graveside service will be held. Memorial donations may be made the Dodsland/Plenty Clinic Foundation, Dodsland, SK, S0L 0V0.
