It is with sadness the family of Margery Elizabeth Martin (nee Kerr) announce her passing on August 11, 2021 at the age of 99 years.
Margery Elizabeth (Kerr) Martin who was born at Lawson Sask on November 21, 1921 She grew up in a caring community and was involved in church and midweek groups, thus nurturing a caring nature that she carried with her throughout her life. In her teens she began to develop her musical talents – a talent that was willingly shared throughout her life – playing the organ for the Herschel United Church for 60 years and playing for many weddings, funerals, school concerts and social gatherings. She attended Normal School in 1941 and in 1945 came to Herschel to teach where she met and married a handsome young farmer – Rea Martin- and remained there for the rest of her life until moving into the Oasis condo in 2014 and then Rose Villa LTC in 2018.
Family, farming, and friends were her priorities – she was always there to help out wherever she could and rarely missed any event, celebration or meeting in Herschel.
She leaves those who knew her with a lasting legacy of patience, positivity, honesty, resilience, independence and hard work– she still cut her acreage grass at age 91! We will miss her dearly but are so extremely grateful for her 99 years and 9 months of a wonderful life and so proud to call her our mom, grandma and great grandma.
