Marie LAMBIE Obituary

It is with our deepest sadness that the family of Marie Lambie announce her peaceful passing on December 12, 2020 at the age of 85.  Marie was a loving wife to her late husband Donald.  Mom will be dearly missed by her children Ronald (Marlene) and Patricia, and grandchildren Amanda, Evan, Tyler (Katrina) and Tanner (Paige).

Marie enjoyed gardening, chatting with friends, going to the casino, watching Jeopardy and making muffins for her four grandchildren. Her energetic and cheery attitude will be missed by us all.

Marie was born on November 10, 1935 on a farm south of Abernethy, SK to Dmytro and Anastazya Lewicki.  As an only child, she spent many hours helping her parents on the farm while obtaining her education at Kenlis School.  After completing school she attended secretarial college in Regina.  It was during this time she met Don Lambie and they were married on October 6, 1956.  Early married life was spent traipsing around southern Saskatchewan where Don was working.  On March 23, 1958 Robert was born but tragically passed three days later. Ronald followed on June 24, 1959, and on December 24, 1959 the new family settled into their first home in Moose Jaw, SK.  Patricia was born on May 6, 1962 following which Marie focused on raising her children and running the household.  The family moved to Prince Albert, SK in 1966 followed by Marie returning to the workforce at Prince Albert Collegiate Institute once the kids where older.  In 1975, after moving to Regina, Marie worked as an administrative assistant at SAMA until she retired in 1984.  Throughout these years the family spent summertime camping with friends at “the lake” and other destinations outside of the province.

She and Don enjoyed retirement years travelling, wine tasting, good dinners out and spending time with their grandchildren.  After Don’s passing in 2009, she remained focused on her grandchildren, attending their special events and celebrations whenever possible.  Following the sale her house in Regina, she moved into a retirement residence in Regina, and eventually Saskatoon to be closer to her family.  She spent these years at the residences enjoying the entertainment, socializing with new friends and visiting with family until her passing at the Elrose Health Centre.

A remembrance of Marie will be held in the spring at Sunset Cemetery in Moose Jaw.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104-2301 Ave C N, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 5X5.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
