Marie Olivette "Ollie" Jacqueline Henriette (Bachand) BARDI

Marie Olivette “Ollie” Jacqueline Henriette Bardi (née Bachand) passed away at the age of 85 at the Elrose Health Centre on May 19, 2022.

Olivette was the only child born to Oliva and Germaine Bachand at North-Hatley, Quebec on October 9, 1936.  Her father, Oliva, passed away in a mining accident, two days before she was born. Her mother remarried Mr. Arthur Bachand of Stockdill, SK. in 1939 and they moved from North Hatley, Quebec to Saskatchewan to farm in the Stockdill-Thrasher District near Rosetown, SK.  Olivette attended East Gap School, Springville Country School, Notre-De-Liesse, and St. Joseph’s Convent (Rosetown) as her family moved between Quebec and Saskatchewan.  She studied at the Sisters of St. Joseph Convent in Toronto from 1952 to 1955, where she served the order as a nurse until the choice became clear to pursue a family life instead.  She moved back to Rosetown, SK. in 1955 and took a job at the Royal Bank as well as did books for a local business. In 1967, she married Stephen Bardi of Elrose, SK.  She lived in Elrose, SK from 1967 until 1975 and then on the farm until her passing in 2022.

Olivette loved farming and cooking for family and anyone who stopped in for a visit. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and curling.  Her interests included watching sports – especially hockey and baseball. Ollie’s favorite teams were anything her kids or grandkids played on, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Toronto Blue Jays.  She was a lover of card games and doing puzzles.  She was an active member in the community including the local Catholic Woman’s League, the Lioness, and the “Happy Cookers” (Uniplex kitchen). She was always smiling, laughing, and cracking jokes and will be remembered for her love of her family.

Olivette is survived by her husband Stephen Bardi of Elrose, SK; three sons, Patrick Bardi of Calgary, AB, Rodrick Bardi of Saskatoon, SK, and Danick Bardi (Tracy) of Delisle, SK; and daughter Giselle (Darren) Camm of Colonsay, SK.  As well, she leaves behind five grandchildren; Tyler Camm of Saskatoon, SK, Bronsen and Addysen Bardi of Delisle, SK, and Rohan and Kariya Bardi of Saskatoon, SK. As well she is survived by her sister Claire (Arnold) Lafayette of Regina, SK; and brother Danny (Lucy) Bachand of Pincher Creek, AB.

She is predeceased by her father, Oliva (1936), step-father, Arthur Bachand (1989), mother Germaine (2000), and half-brother Donald Bachand (2008).

The Vigil of Prayer was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Elrose, SK. and the Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish with Reverend Father Habila Musa celebrating.
